Blair and mason’s edgy black tie wedding at the emerson in Kaufman

While Blair and Mason attended the University of Oklahoma at the same time and had friends in common, they didn’t consider dating until they both moved toDallas (where Blair grew up).As fate would have it, the pair ended up living in the same area and decided to meet up. On their first date, the excitement was palpable. Quite literally, Blair’s dog Bentley was so enthusiastic about the situation that he peed all over Mason—but thankfully, they’ve been a trio ever since.

Selecting the Emerson, in Kaufman, for its flexible indoor and outdoor space, the couple knew they wanted to create a unique and fun atmosphere for everyone. Guests were welcomed to the intimate chapel with passed Champagne and an electric violinist playing renditions of songs byPost Malone, Taylor Swift, and Drake. Once the couple was declared husband and wife everyone was ushered to an outdoor cocktail hour where loads of charcuterie and a signature drink named after their pup awaited.

Having attended college together, the wedding design would not have been complete without the school’s signature shade of burgundy throughout. Apricots and rich mauves complemented the darker tones, and the white interiors balanced the deeper color palette. Mini disco balls accompanied escort cards as a hint of the dance-filled party that was to come.

The look and feel of the wedding was the ultimate mix of formal and comfortable. The long tables were set with plenty of florals, candles, and chic matte black plates, but when it came time to eat, it was Babe’s fried chicken served family-style, allowing everyone to feel right at home.
